About Me
My name is Charles Edmondson, and I am Physiotherapist with a wealth of experience spanning both elite professional sport and specialist private healthcare. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the country's top orthopaedic and sports medicine consultants, managing complex rehabilitation and high-performance return-to-play programs. In January 2026, I took the exciting step of launching my own private clinic right here in Harrogate, bringing elite-level clinical care directly to the local community.
My journey
Sport and movement have been the fabric of my life for as long as I can remember. While I always knew my career would revolve around sport, my path truly crystallized during my first degree in Sport and Exercise Science at Manchester Metropolitan University. As part of that course, I did a six-month study abroad program at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, studying kinesiology and injury prevention. Witnessing how targeted, evidence-based care could keep athletes at their peak was my lightbulb moment—I knew right then that I wanted to become a physiotherapist.
Determined to pursue this clinical path, I returned to Yorkshire and graduated with First-Class Honours in Physiotherapy from Leeds Beckett University. From there, I began working down south in the NHS with the Berkshire Healthcare Community Trust, progressing quickly from a Band 5 rotational role to a Band 6 Musculoskeletal (MSK) Specialist. Alongside my hospital caseload, I stepped into elite sports medicine, working as an Academy Physiotherapist for both Oxford United and Reading Football Club, where I refined my skills in high-pressure acute care and tailored athletic rehab.
In January 2024, I move back north and stepped into a full-time MSK outpatient role at Nuffield Health in Leeds, collaborating closely with top consultants to manage complex private patient pathways. At the same time, I continued my work in elite football with the medical team at Leeds United Academy, focusing heavily on fine-tuned injury prevention and goal-based recovery.
Every single step of this journey—from American seminar rooms to private hospital outpatient care and Premier League academies, I have built towards my long-held dream of running my own practice. In January 2026, that dream became a reality. I partnered with the fantastic team at Harrogate Lift Club to officially launch my clinic. My mission today is exactly what it was when I first started: to take the advanced rehabilitation strategies used in professional sport and make them accessible to everyone, helping our local community stay strong, recover effectively, and move pain-free.
